The rescue
Jon Taffer kept the name Dimples for the relaunch.
Dimples closed in January 2015, after the city council approved a new development on its site. Business had improved and Sal had cleared his debts, though he reversed some of the rescue’s changes, including reintroducing some of the memorabilia.
What happened next
At the six-week check-in, sales at Dimples were up 30%, allowing owner Sal to begin paying down his debt, and Roberto had returned to the kitchen. Sal had also begun restoring some of the memorabilia the rescue had removed. He gave the experience a mixed verdict in the Los Angeles Daily News, saying the show did “50% good, 50% bad” to him: he disliked the removal of his dance floor and sign and the rearrangement of the booths, even as the show installed new carpeting and bar fittings.
