Taffer walked out without rescuing O'Face Bar, and the aftermath was turbulent. Security guard Syck was fired for supporting Taffer, while the rest of the staff continued drinking at the bar. In 2014 the Council Bluffs City Council voted 3-2 not to renew the bar's liquor licence, with three members citing its Bar Rescue appearance, and the mayor said he had received emails from around the country calling the bar an embarrassment to the city. The licence was later reinstated on appeal. A Season 4 Back to the Bar revisit found conditions improved, though Taffer said he would never return. In February 2021 a shooting inside the bar left one victim wounded. The bar remained open in early 2023, by then run solely by Karen Overmyer, according to its website.
