What happened next
At the six-week check-in, food sales at Off Base Bar had doubled and overall sales were up 30%. The bar kept Taffer's name, added DJs and live music, and owner Sissy became more respectful of her employees' privacy; the bar frequently featured Taffer in its announcements and promotions. Reviews were poor, at 2.5 stars on Yelp against 4 stars on Google, and the bar developed serious problems, including fighting in its parking lot and drug use among customers. In February 2022, an argument that began inside ended in a shooting outside in which a man was killed; an off-duty Marine was arrested. Off Base Bar closed in September 2022, after roughly seven years, when it was sold to new owners, who reopened the site as Bogey's Bar and Grill.
