Sales at Sierra Madre Cantina were growing at the six-week check-in, and Juan Magana kept the new name Taffer had given the bar rather than reverting to Kalaveraz. The bar closed temporarily in March 2020 because of the Covid-19 pandemic, reopening in May 2020, and closed briefly again in December 2020. Reviews were good, at 4 stars on Yelp, 4.8 stars on Facebook and 4.1 stars on Google. The bar traded for more than four years after its episode before closing for good in September 2024; announcing the closure on Facebook, owner Juan Magana thanked Bar Rescue, among many others.
