Key dates
- June 2, 2024Bar Rescue episode “Thank You for (Not) Smoking” airs — Jon Taffer's rescue of Gerri’s Sports Pub, relaunched as Jerzy’s Pub, filmed earlier.
The rescue
Jon Taffer relaunched Gerri’s Sports Pub as Jerzy’s Pub.
Jerzy's Pub, formerly Gerri's Sports Pub, was still trading in 2024, with the Jerzy's and Gerri's names both in use.
What happened next
Gerri's Sports Pub was relaunched as Jerzy's Pub, and Taffer secured the owners' commitment to end indoor smoking at the formerly smoking-permitted bar. In 2024 the bar was still trading in Margate, although its minimal online presence made it unclear whether it was operating as Jerzy's Pub or had reverted to Gerri's Sports Pub: its Google listing and recent reviews used the Gerri's name, while official records, including an April 2024 county inspection warning, used Jerzy's Pub. Its only identifiable Facebook page had not been updated since 2021. Before Taffer's visit, a crack cocaine dealing bust took place at the bar in 2021, and police responded to a violent altercation involving a firearm in July 2023.
