Piratz Tavern, relaunched as Corporate Bar and Grill, closed on April 4, 2015, after reverting to its original name and pirate branding. Owner Tracy Rebelo blamed the closure on negative publicity, prank calls, vandalism and bogus reviews arising from the show.
What happened next
Within weeks of the rebrand, owner Tracy Rebelo closed the bar, redecorated it and reopened it under its original name, Piratz Tavern. Staff removed the changes made during the rescue, burned some of the decor installed by the production and documented the reversal in a 'Piratz Revenge' music video. The bar, which held a 2.5-star rating on Yelp, was later featured in a Back to the Bar episode. Piratz Tavern closed on April 4, 2015; in her closure announcement, Rebelo blamed negative publicity, prank calls, vandalism and bogus reviews generated by the show. The Silver Spring site was later occupied by The Republic Garden. The Rebelos then opened Bar Refuge in Melbourne, Florida, in about 2016; they sold it in 2018, and it closed in about 2019.
