Key dates
- April 24, 2022Bar Rescue episode “Sandtown Rescue” airs — Jon Taffer's rescue of SandTown Pub, filmed earlier.
The rescue
Jon Taffer kept the name SandTown Pub for the relaunch.
SandTown Pub dropped Taffer's JJ's Chicken Bar name almost immediately and restored its original name. Reviews did not improve after the show, at 2.5 stars on Yelp and 3.6 stars on Google.
What happened next
Owner Fredericka responded positively to the rescue, posting about the renovations on her personal Facebook page; the SandTown Pub page also announced the episode. She rejected one element outright: Taffer's new name, JJ's Chicken Bar, was dropped almost immediately and the SandTown Pub name restored under a new sign, because JJ's was already a well-known wing brand in Atlanta and Sandtown was the name of the surrounding community. The rest of the rescue was kept, and the bar remains open in Atlanta. Reviews did not improve after the show, however: the bar held 2.5 stars on Yelp and 3.6 stars on Google, with continuing complaints about food and service.
